The Northwest Iowa Community College Academic Achievement Scholarship recognizes academic excellence. Scholarship proceeds must be utilized within 24 months of the initial enrollment date. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must have graduated from a public or private high school
in the community college district within the last three years.
• Must rank in the top ten percent of their graduating class. Eligibility will be determined by their class rank at the end of the fall semester of their senior year.
• Maintain a 3.5 minimum cumulative grade point average.
• Initial enrollment must be in the fall or spring semester.

President’s Scholarship
Full Tuition—5 scholarships granted; Full time students
The Northwest Iowa Community College President’s Scholarship is to recognize academic excellence. Primary selection criteria will be the applicant’s high school academic record. The scholarship is credited toward tuition expenses for each semester. Scholarship proceeds must be utilized within 24 months of the initial enrollment date. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must be a graduate of a private or public high school in the community college district within the last three years.
• Must be a current resident of the community college district.
• Must rank in the upper one-third of their graduating class or achieve a cumulative 3.0 grade point average.
• Maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 grade point average.
• Initial enrollment must be in the fall or spring semester.
• Submit a 350–400 word typed essay that follows rules of composition and grammar. The applicant should discuss his/her academic background, other activities, educational and career objectives, and any other factors the applicant believes should be considered.

Foundation Scholarship
Half Tuition—17 scholarships granted; Full time students
The Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation Scholarship recognizes academic excellence. One half-tuition scholarship will be available for a graduate from each private or public high school in our community college district. The scholarship is credited toward tuition expenses for each semester. Scholarship proceeds must be utilized within 24 months of the initial enrollment date. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must be current residents of the community college district.
• Must rank in the upper one-third of their graduating class or achieve a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
• Must have graduated from a high school in our community college district within the last three years.
• Maintain a 2.5 minimum cumulative grade point average.
• Initial enrollment must be in the fall or spring semester.

Trustees Scholarship
$500—Number of scholarship granted varies; Full time students
The Northwest Iowa Community College Trustees Scholarship recognizes the achievement of area high school students. Successful applicants will receive $250 each semester or term not to exceed $500. Proceeds must be utilized within 24 months of the initial enrollment date. Students receiving the Trustees Scholarship may also apply for the Foundation Scholarship. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must rank above the 50th percentile (composite score) on the Iowa Test of Educational Development (eleventh grade score), score 20 or above on the ACT test, or score at least a 550 average on the GED exam.
• Must have graduated from high school or completed the GED exam in the last three years.
• Must reside in the community college district.
• Initial enrollment must be in the fall or spring semester.
• Must maintain a 2.25 cumulative grade point average.
• ITED rank or ACT score must be on an official transcript or verified by the High School Guidance Counselor.

Border State Student Scholarship                                        
Dollar amount varies; Full or part-time students
The Northwest Iowa Community College Border State Student Scholarship recognizes students who reside in the states of Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota and who wish to pursue post secondary education at Northwest Iowa Community College. This scholarship will adjust tuition from out-of-state to the in-state rate. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must be a high school graduate with a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or have completed the GED with a composite score of 450.
• Must be accepted in a program at Northwest Iowa Community College. Programs not eligible for this scholarship include: Associate Degree Nursing, Practical Nursing, Extended Practical Nursing, Pre-Nursing, Powerline, and Powerline Technology.
• Must apply for this scholarship using the NCC Foundation Scholarship application on the back page of this book or online.

Carl H. Rolf Scholarship for Leaders*
1—$1,000 scholarship granted; Full time student
Carl H. Rolf served as the sixth president of Northwest Iowa Community College from 1990 through 2002. Through his leadership, learning opportunities for students attending NCC were enhanced. The Carl H. Rolf Scholarship for Leaders recognizes students who possess the qualities that will prepare them for leadership roles in the future. Proceeds will be applied to the spring semester of study. Proceeds will be used for tuition, fees, and books. One scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who meets the following criteria:
• Must have a 2.5 cumulative G.P.A. from high school or college.
• Must submit an essay, no more than 500 words, that identifies the leadership qualities they feel they currently possess and how these qualities will be of benefit to them as they pursue their educational and career aspirations.

Entre Prep Scholarship
$500—Number of scholarships granted varies; Full time students
The Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation will award a $500 scholarship to high school students in the College district who successfully complete the Entre Prep Program coordinated through Northwest Iowa Community College. Applicants must be accepted as a full time student at Northwest Iowa Community College and must have graduated from high school in the last year. Students must apply for this scholarship using the NCC Foundation Scholarship application on the back page of this book or online. High school
students are not eligible for this award if they are dual enrolled in JA or PSEO classes. They will be eligible for this scholarship if they choose to attend NCC as a full-time student in the fall or spring semester after graduation from high school.

Student Government Association/Foundation Scholarship*                      
Dollar amount and number of scholarships granted varies; Full time students
The Northwest Iowa Community College Student Government Association/Foundation Scholarship provides recognition to second-year students for academic achievement, exhibited leadership qualities, or contributions to a program and division. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be enrolled as a full-time student with at least 1 semester completed at NCC during the previous year.
• Have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0.
• Recommended that student is active in at least one club or organization at NCC.
• Submit a typewritten narrative in which the applicant should discuss background, activities, educational and career objectives, and why they believe being involved in student activities is beneficial to the college experience. Any other factors the applicant believes should be considered may also be included.
• Submit one letter of recommendation from an NCC faculty member or administrator and one letter of recommendation from an Advisor of a club or organization at NCC. The narra- tive and letters of recommendation must be received by the Foundation Office no later than the deadline.

NEW! American Legion of Iowa Foundation Scholarship*
$1,000—2 Scholarships granted; Full time students
The American Legion Foundation Scholarships will be available each year to students who have served in the military and are eligible for education benefits from the Veteran's Administration. Proceeds from this scholarship can be used for fees, equipment, tools, and textbooks and will be applied to the following fall semester. Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the scholarship:
• Must have a "verifiable veterans" status
• Must be a full-time student
• Must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA from high school or college
• Must exhibit financial need based on the Expected Family Contribution

Belin-Blank Exceptional Student Talent Search (BESTS)                   
Scholarship equivalent to one course of study
The Belin-Blank Exceptional Student Talent Search Scholarship is offered through the University of Iowa. This scholarship is awarded to seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students who have outstanding potential for academic achievement and exhibit the ability for meritorious contribution to society based on performance in the Belin-Blank Exceptional Student Talent Search. The scholarship will be utilized during the student’s high school career.

Bomgaars, Inc. Scholarship
$500—1 Scholarship granted; Full time student
Bomgaars, Inc. is a retail chain operating in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Minnesota with 48 stores and over 1000 employees. Bomgaars is making this scholarship available to encourage students to pursue post-secondary education. Proceeds will be split equally between the fall and spring semesters and will be applied to tuition, fees, and books. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must have applied and been accepted into Northwest Iowa Community College.
• Must have a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA.
• Preference will be given to Bomgaars employees and dependents of Bomgaars employees.

Business and Professional Women of Iowa Foundation Scholarship*                   
$500 Scholarship granted; Full or part-time students
The BPW/Iowa Foundation was established in 1988 for charitable, educational and scientific purposes. Since that time, the Educational Scholarship Committee has awarded numerous scholarships to deserving women and men in order to help them continue their higher education. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be a resident of Iowa and a United States citizen.
• Has been out of the workforce and wants or needs to go back to work but needs additional education.
• Completed high school five or more years ago.
• Completed at least one year in an institution of higher learning with satisfactory scholastic standing.
• Demonstrates financial need, scholastic ability, leadership skills, and career goals.
• In addition to the formal application, applicants must attach a copy of their transcripts along with three letters of reference as to their character and need for this scholarship.
The applicant does not need to be a member of Business and Professional Women of Iowa (BPW/IA). Those interested in applying must contact the NCC Foundation Office for an application.

CHS Foundation Two-Year College Scholarship*                 
$750 scholarships granted; Full or part-time students
The purpose of the CHS Foundation Two-Year College Scholarship is to encourage students to pursue careers in production agriculture and agribusiness, promote employment and/or participation in agricultural-based cooperatives, and create an awareness of cooperative-based business in the agricultural industry. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• At the time of application the student will be in his or her first year of study at a two-year institution. The scholarship is intended for use during the second year of study.
• Students will be studying an agricultural-related major.
• Students are only eligible to win the scholarship once.
• Students must complete the entire application form, available at www.chsfoundation.org. The following must also be attached to or included with the application: a copy of transcripts from your first semester of college; two complete reference forms; completed essay questions; academic advisor signature veri- fying applicant’s year in school and GPA; and applicant signature.

Coca-Cola Two Year Scholars Program*
350—$1,000 scholarship granted nationally; Full or part-time students
In keeping with Coca-Cola’s long-standing commitment to post secondary education, students attending two-year degree granting institutions throughout the United States will be recognized through this award for their unique contributions to community service and their dedication to education. Northwest Iowa Community College will select two completed applications to forward to Coca-Cola. Contact the NCC Foundation office for the Coca-Cola Two Year Scholars Program Application. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
• Carrying a minimum 2.5 G.P.A. at the time of nomination
• Must have completed 100 hours of community service within the previous 12 months.
• Be planning on enrolling in a minimum of two courses for the upcoming semester/term.

C-S Agrow Service Scholarship
1—$1000 scholarship granted; Full time student
C-S Agrow Service is an agricultural input supply company with offices in Calumet and Granville, Iowa. The C-S Agrow Service Scholarship is to support the achievement of students who choose to attend Northwest Iowa Community College. Scholarship proceeds will be split equally between the first and second semesters of study and will be used for tuition, fees, and books. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Achieve a high school grade point average of 2.5.
• Submit a narrative, no more than 500 words, which identifies their desire to succeed in their chosen program of study at Northwest Iowa Community College.

Dollars for Scholars
Number and amount of scholarship varies; Full time students
Northwest Iowa Community College is a Collegiate Partner of Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of America and the Dollars for Scholars family of community scholarship foundations. The student must have received a Dollars for Scholars award from their local Dollars for Scholars chapter. NCC will match that award up to $250 per recipient with a maximum of $3,000 for all matches per academic year. NCC has agreed that Dollars for Scholars awards will not adversely affect scholarship funding by NCC.

Franklin University Community College Alliance Online Learning Scholarship*
Number and amount of scholarships granted varies; Full or part time students
Franklin University now offers students at Northwest Iowa Community College an Online Learning Scholarship. The Community College Alliance Online Learning Scholarship is a competitive scholarship available to students at partnering community colleges who have taken at least one distance education course. Students are not required to be enrolled at Franklin University to receive the scholarship. Scholarships will be applied towards tuition and books at the community college. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must currently attend or have attended a partnering community college.
• Must have taken at least one distance education class at a partnering community college.
• Must submit the scholarship application by the published deadlines.
• Must have a minimum average 2.5 cumulative GPA from all previous colleges or universities attended.
• Academic transcript(s) from current and other colleges must be attached to the application.
• Must submit a typed essay with application describing how distance education has positively affected your life.

Gordon R. Jurrens Memorial Scholarship*
1—$500 scholarship granted; Full or part time student
The Gordon R. Jurrens Memorial Scholarship was established by the family of Gordon Jurrens to recognize the dedication of a student to succeed in one of the fields Gordon was particularly fond of. Gordon valued technical training because his professional life was built on technical skills. He started as a welder at Sudenga Industries, George, IA, in 1958 and worked his way up to shop foreman. In 1975, he became a partner in Sudenga Industries (now Diversified Technologies, Inc.) and remained an owner until 2001 when he retired. Gordon served on the Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation Board from 1990 to 1996. Scholarship proceeds will be applied to the spring semester and will be used for tuition, fees, and books. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be a registered student in good standing in the Welding, General Machining, Administrative Secretarial, or Administrative Office Management program.
• Demonstrate a desire to succeed in the profession.
• Demonstrate good work habits as evaluated by the instructional staff.
• Maintain a good record of class attendance.
• Have a sincere desire to seek employment in Iowa, especially in northwest Iowa.
• Submit a paragraph explaining why the applicant chose to enter their particular career field and identify their career goals.

NEW! HTC Communications Scholarship
2—$500 scholarships granted; Full time student
HTC Communications is a broadband provider with a history of quality service in telephone, cable TV, internet and cellular phones, with headquarters in Hospers, Iowa. Their service area covers the communities of Hospers, Sheldon, Ashton, and Sibley. The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage students from their service communities to pursue post-secondary education. Proceeds will be split equally between two semesters of study and will be used for tuition, fees, and/or books. One scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in a Vocational/Technical program at NCC. The other scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in an Associate of Arts/Science college transfer program. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must be a current resident of Hospers, Sheldon, Ashton, or Sibley, Iowa
• Have a high school GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Maintain a 2.5 GPA while attending NCC; eligibility will be reviewed each semester.

Iowa Academic Decathlon Scholarship
Amount: Gold Medalist $300; Silver Medalist $200; Bronze Medalist $100; Full time students
The Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation/Academic Decathlon Scholarship is to recognize high school students who have experienced success with the Iowa Academic Decathlon Program and will be enrolling at Northwest Iowa Community College. Academic Decathlon Scholarships will be awarded to Iowa high school students who have participated in competition at the state level and received a gold, silver or bronze medal/medals. In the case where a student has received multiple awards throughout his/her high school career, total scholarship will not exceed $500.

Iowa State Bank Scholarship

The Iowa State Bank Scholarships are to encourage individuals in the community college district to pursue post-secondary education opportunities at Northwest Iowa Community College. Preference will be given to Iowa State Bank or Vogel Paint employees or immediate dependents. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be accepted in the Administrative Secretarial, Administrative Office Management, Nursing, Health Information Technology, Business/Management program.
• Must be current residents of the Northwest Iowa Community College district
• Achieve a high school cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
• Maintain a 2.5 minimum cumulative grade point average.
• Submit a letter of reference from an appropriate high school instructor, guidance counselor, or current employer. This reference should address the applicant’s potential for success in the program of enrollment.

NEW! Keith W. Campbell Memorial Scholarship
1—$500 scholarship granted; Full time student
The Keith W. Campbell Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Keith Campbell by his wife, Mary Alice, and their children. Keith was involved with banking in the Sheldon community for many years as CEO of Citizen's State Bank and was a long-time supporter of Northwest Iowa Community College. Proceeds from this scholarship will be equally divided between the fall and spring semesters, and may be used for tuition, fees, and textbooks. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must be enrolled and accepted as a full-time student at NCC.
• Achieve a 2.0 high school grade point average.
• Maintain a 2.0 GPA while enrolled at NCC; eligibility will be reviewed each semester.
• Preference will be given to a Sheldon area resident.
• Submit an essay, no more than two pages, addressing your career goals and the importance of being an informed citizen. Ideas may include examples of community involvement that have an environmental impact, and how involvement at the local level might contribute to a more peaceful world.

Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben One-Year Community College Scholarship*
12—$1,000 scholarships granted in Nebraska & Western Iowa; Full time students
The Ak-Sar-Ben One-Year Community College Scholarship Program is funded by the Ak-Sar-Ben Friendship Circle. It was created to reward outstanding and talented community college-bound high school seniors, current community college students, and those planning to enroll. Students must be Heartland residents (Nebraska and western Iowa) who need financial help to realize their potential. Recipients are selected by an independent panel of judges selected by the Ak-Sar-Ben Scholarship Committee. Judges will consider each application on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, personal motivation, and leadership potential. The Link Manufacturing Ltd. Scholarship is to encourage individuals to pursue post secondary education opportunities at Northwest Iowa Community College. The scholarship will be split equally between two semesters and may be utilized for tuition, fees, and books. Preference will be given to Link Manufacturing, Ltd. employees and their immediate dependents. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be enrolled in Accounting, Administrative Secretarial, Administrative Office Management, Collision Repair & Refinishing, Business/ Management, Computer Science & Networking Technology, Computerized Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Drafting/CAD, Heavy Equipment Operation & Maintenance, Pre-Professional Business, Truck & Diesel Technology, or Welding.
• A current resident of the Northwest Iowa Community College district.
• Incoming students must achieve a high school grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Current students must achieve an NCC grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Maintain a 2.5 minimum grade point average; eligibility will be reviewed each semester.

The Maintainer Corporation of Iowa, Inc. Scholarship is to encourage individuals in the College service area to pursue post-secondary education opportunities at Northwest Iowa Community College. Scholarship proceeds will be split equally between two semesters and may be utilized for tuition, fees, and books. Preference will be given to Maintainer Corporation of Iowa, Inc. employees or immediate dependents. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be enrolled in Accounting, Administrative Secretarial, Administrative Office Management, Collision Repair & Refinishing, Business/Management, Computer Science & Networking Technology, Computerized Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Drafting/CAD, Heavy Equipment Operation & Maintenance, Pre-Professional Business, Truck & Diesel Technology, or Welding.

The MidAmerican Energy Company Scholarships are to encourage individuals to pursue post-secondary education opportunities at Northwest Iowa Community College. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be enrolled in one of the following programs: Powerline or Powerline Technology.
• Must be a current resident of a community that has a MidAmerican utility in its service area.
• Achieve a high school grade point average of 2.5.
• Maintain a 2.5 minimum cumulative grade point average.
• Submit a letter of reference from a high school instructor, guidance counselor, or current employer, which should address the applicant’s potential for success in the program.

Multi-Cultural Scholarship
4—$500 scholarships granted; Full time students
• Must be a resident of Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, or Minnesota
• High school graduate with a minimum GPA of 2.0 OR
• 550 average on GED
• The applicant must be a first-generation college student and a member of a recognized race/ethnic minority
• Submit a narrative (not to exceed one page) on family background and financial need.
NOTE: First generation will be defined as children whose parents have not attended college. We will utilize IPED designations to define race/ethnic minority.

Orange City Leadership Scholarship
2—$1,000 scholarships granted
Seniors from MOC-FV High School, Spalding Catholic High School, and Unity Christian High School attending a morning session in the fall on “Opportunities for a Successful Future in the Orange City Area” have the opportunity to be selected for one of two $500 matching scholarships for their first year at their choice of Northwest Iowa Community College, Northwestern College or Dordt College. Pamela R. Kreykes Memorial Scholarship
1—$250 scholarship granted; Full or part-time student
The Pamela R. Kreykes Memorial Scholarship was established to honor Pam’s dedication to student success at Northwest Iowa Community College. Pam was employed at NCC from 1995 to 2004. Before leaving NCC to pursue her Master’s Degree, Pam assisted students in achieving their educational goals in her role as Academic Specialist in the TRiO Student Support Services or “STARS” program. Pam not only advised students about the impact education could have on their lives, but also modeled it for them by her own path to higher education. She began with an AA from NCC, then went on to receive a BA from Buena Vista University, and was nearing completion of her MA at the University of South Dakota. Scholarship proceeds may be utilized for tuition, fees, and books. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• A STARS participant in good standing.
• Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits.
• Submit a narrative, not to exceed one page, describing the impact of the STARS program on the applicant’s education, any co-curricular/community involvement, future education/ career goals, and how this scholarship would benefit in achieving those goals.

Pella Rolscreen Scholarship*

The Pella Corporation is a leading manufacturer of windows and doors, which serves every major city in the United States and stretches internationally. The Pella Rolscreen Scholarship is to recognize current students who have experienced academic success and developed leadership skills while attending Northwest Iowa Community College. Scholarship proceeds will be split between the fall and spring semesters and will be utilized for tuition, fees, and books. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be enrolled in one of the following programs: Computer Science & Networking Technology, Computerized Manufacturing Technology, Industrial & Commercial Wiring, and Industrial Instrumentation & Control.
• Have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average at the time of application.
• Maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average; eligibility shall be reviewed each semester.
• Exhibit financial need based on the EFC (Expected Family Contribution).

Premier Bank Scholarship
1—$500 scholarship granted; Full time student
The Premier Bank Scholarship awards students from the Rock Valley, Doon, Rock Rapids, IA or Hudson, SD, area who are enrolling full time at NCC. Preference for the award will be given in the following order: to a Premier Bank employee or their child, a Premier Bank customer or a Rock Valley, Doon, Rock Rapids or Hudson area resident. Names of Rock Valley, Doon, Rock Rapids, and Hudson residents who have been accepted at NCC by May 1 will be forwarded to Premier Bank for the purpose of selection.

Sheldon Kiwanis Scholarship

The Sheldon Kiwanis Scholarship recognizes academic excellence and community service. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be a member of the current graduating class.
• Be a current resident of the Sheldon school district.

NEW! Sibley State Bank Scholarship
2—$500 scholarships granted; Full time students
The Sibley State Bank Scholarships are to provide financial opportunity to deserving Sibley-Ocheyedan High School seniors who plan on pursuing their post-secondary education at Northwest Iowa Community College in either a career or college transfer program. Each scholarship will be split equally between the first two semesters of the first year of enrollment. Scholarship proceeds will be utilized for tuition, fees and books. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Graduate of Sibley-Ocheyedan High School.
• Achieve a high school grade point of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Maintain a 2.5 minimum grade point average; eligibility will be reviewed each semester.
• Submit a letter of reference from a high school instructor, guidance counselor or current employer with their application. This reference should address the applicant’s potential for success in their program of enrollment.

NEW! Sid & Marie VanderGriend Scholarship*
4 —$2000 scholarships granted; full time students
The Sid & Marie VanderGriend scholarships have been established by the VanderGriend family to encourage postsecondary education. Sid was unable to attend high school because of World War II. He served two years with the army in China. After military service, Sid returned to Sheldon and completed his GED at NCC. He was proud to receive his honorary high school diploma, along with twelve other World War II veterans, with the 2001 Sheldon High School graduating class. Sid and Marie have been lifelong learners and have always encouraged the pursuit of education. They lived and worked on the same farm south of Sheldon for 60 years. Proceeds from this scholarship will be used for tuition, fees, and books. First year recipients of this scholarship are eligible to reapply for their second year at NCC. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Have applied and been accepted into a vocational-technical program at Northwest Iowa Community College.
• Demonstrate a desire to succeed in their chosen field.
• Have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA while enrolled in the program.
• Must be employed part-time on or off campus while attending NCC.
• Submission of a narrative (no more than one page) summarizing the applicant’s commitment to this career, any community involvement, and work history.
• Submission of a reference letter from a current or former employer that addresses work habits and attendance while employed.

NEW! TRIO SSS "STARS" Grant Aid
20—$1,000 grant aid awards, full-or 3/4-time students
STARS participants who meet established criteria are eligible to apply for one of twenty awards. Applicants must:
• participate in the STARS program
• receive a Pell Grant
• enroll in at least 9 credits during the spring semester
• obtain good academic standing
• submit a narrative not to exceed one page, describe the impact of the STARS program on the applicant's education, discuss any co-curricular or community involvement, list future education or career goals and explain how this Grant Aid would help achieve those goals.

United Fund Lucile Woods Tuition Scholarship
1—$500 scholarship granted; Full time student
The United Fund Lucile Woods Tuition Scholarship is to recognize Lucile Woods’ contribution to the United Fund and the Sheldon community during the past years. This recognition will assist the youth of the Sheldon Community School District in pursuit of post-secondary education. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Reside in the Sheldon Community School district.
• Be enrolled in their senior year at a public or private high school in the community college district.
• Achieve a 2.5 minimum cumulative grade point average.
• Submit an essay, which should address the applicant's desire to succeed in the chosen program of study.

University of Phoenix Scholarship*
1—$5,000 scholarship granted
The University of Phoenix will provide a $5,000 tuition scholarship annually to one Phi Theta Kappa graduate from Northwest Iowa Community College. Scholarships will be applied to University of Phoenix degree programs only and will be credited to the student’s financial account on a course-by-course basis.

Vogel Paint Scholarship
3—$500 scholarships granted; Full time students
The Vogel Paint Scholarships are to encourage individuals in the community college district to pursue post-secondary education opportunities at Northwest Iowa Community College. Preference will be given to Vogel Paint and Iowa State Bank employees or immediate dependents. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be enrolled in one of the following programs: Accounting, Computer Science & Networking Technology, Computerized Manufacturing Technology, Industrial & Commercial Wiring, and Welding.
• Must be current residents of the Northwest Iowa Community College district.
• Achieve a high school cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
• Maintain a 2.5 minimum cumulative grade point average.
• Submit a letter of reference from a high school instructor, guidance counselor, or current employer, which should address the applicant’s potential for success in the program chosen at enrollment.

1—$250 scholarship granted; Full time student
Wolff, Whorley, De Hoogh, & Schreurs, a Sheldon law firm, has been in business since 1935. This scholarship is to recognize the sacrifices of our Armed Forces veterans. Proceeds will be split equally between two semesters of study and may be used for tuition, fees, and books. Preference in selection will be given to a resident of the Northwest Iowa Community College district. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be a veteran or retiree of the U. S. Air Force, U. S. Army, U. S. Navy, U. S. Marine Corps, or U. S. Coast Guard, having completed active duty with an honorable discharge.
• OR, be an active member of the reserves from any branch of the armed services listed above.
• OR, be an active member of a state national guard unit.
• Maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average while attending NCC.
• Submit a short narrative summarizing your military experience.
